‍So what the hell is Biohacking? A quick search will bring up various definitions, some focus on managing nutrition, others look more to lifestyle and yet more focus on types of technological innovations. As you can see in the title to this piece I’m focusing on Diet, but during consultations general lifestyle is also addressed.


‍A very quick look at general lifestyle, I mentioned in a previous Blog how humans are designed to run. That statement can be extended to say that humans are designed, or rather evolved, to move; walk, climb, carry and of course run. This statement points to a simple reality, for the vast majority of the history of the human race and our immediate predecessors (Homo Erectus - Homo Rudolfensis and others) give or take 2 Million Years, we hunted, gathered, and migrated on foot.

‍Running to get fit is a great idea, it doesn’t require a lot of equipment, you can do it anywhere and pretty much any time. So what’s the problem?


‍Running is a great way of getting fit, but it will put stress on your body and to get the most out if running its best to be aware of some potential issues and do some preparation to get the most out of it. As we from into increasingly sedentary lives, our bodies adept to our environment and one of the ways we adapt is to become chair shaped.


‍Becoming chair shaped often manifests itself in one of two ways and sometimes a combination of both. These are known as “crossed” syndromes. Upper Crossed and Lower Crossed. Upper Crossed is most visible by the creation of a notably head forward posture often accompanied by habitual mouth breathing (rather than nasal), Lower Crossed is most obvious by the exaggeration  of curvature in the lower (lumbar) spine and an overhanging belly.

‍New Year's Resolutions - Couch to 5K - That sponsored walk etc..


‍Well it's that time of year again and many people will be thinking about the commitments that they have recently made, either to themselves, friends or possibly colleagues at work.

‍2024 IS THE YEAR that you will run a marathon or at least complete the Couch to5K that you've started, for the last three years, or maybe during the works Christmas do, you all committed to doing a long distance walk for charity.
